Blogging, RSS & Podcasting LINC 206.01Blogs, RSS, and podcasting have all received a lot of publicity in the popular press recently. When I ask students or faculty about their use of these technologies, few have tried them or even know about them! Like many emerging technologies, the expectations are that everyone is just supposed to know all about them, even without training or learning opportunities. This class will explain, demonstrate and provide hands-on experience with each of these technologies. At the end of the class, participants will have their own weblog and first-hand knowledge and understanding of the power of RSS when used to gather and disseminate knowledge and information. Using sound-editing software, students will also create their own podcast and upload it to the web (iPod not necessary).
Class Dates: Saturdays, October 21 & 28
Units: 1 unit
Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Class location: Room 4006 (PC and Mac laptop lab) Krause Center for Innovation, Foothill College 12345 El Monte Rd. Los Altos Hills, Ca. For map and driving directions please access http://www.foothill.edu/news/maps.html.
Instructor: Sandi Watkins
Please note: Parking is $2.00. Please park in lot 4 and bring 8 quarters or two dollar bills for parking.

Alice Programming for Educators LINC 299.01Want to get your students interested in programming and make it fun at the same time? And better yet, the software is FREE. Alice Programming for Educators will teach you to program a computer, but uses a completely different and more enjoyable approach which allows students to drag-and-drop words in a direct manipulation interface rather than having to correctly type commands according to obscure rules of syntax. In addition, Alice reifies object-based programming by providing animated, on-screen 3D objects.
Class Dates: Saturdays, October 28 & November 4
Units: 1 unit
Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Class location: Room 4002 (Mac lab) Krause Center for Innovation, Foothill College 12345 El Monte Rd. Los Altos Hills, Ca. For map and driving directions please access http://www.foothill.edu/news/maps.html.
